  • It is hard to believe that 2019 is almost half way over.  It has been a busy start to 2019 with many accomplishments to reflect upon.  First, I want to thank the many businesses that signed up for the Chamber’s Keep it in the County program.  There have been many new businesses join the Chamber as well as existing business renewals, all   for which we are extremely thankful.

As I shared at the Chamber’s Annual Meeting in January, Calhoun and Gordon County experienced a record year in 2018 in many areas.  I am pleased to say that 2019 is shaping up to be just as successful, if not more so.  Our “small town” continues to grow and expand in many areas.  We are seeing significant growth in residential, commercial, and industrial activity.  It is exciting to see the growth of our community and many examples of quality growth that we have focused on in 2019.  I have enjoyed being a part of many ribbon cuttings throughout the community so far this year, and being a part of the ground breaking for Food City.

The Chamber has already graduated a new group of youth and adult leadership classes.  Both graduating classes are full of current and future leaders in our community. We had a record-breaking year for the BBQ, Boogie, and Blues festival.  Thousands attended the popular event in Downtown Calhoun; we had a record year for team, vendors, and visitors.  I am also pleased that the Convention and Visitor’s Bureau is now in the capable hands of Sarah Ostuw as the new CVB Director.  We have had several great Booster events this year and several more planned for the remainder of the year.  Thank you for being a part of the Chamber, and I look forward to what the rest of 2019 holds for our great community.

  • Leadership Calhoun/Gordon County will soon begin its thirty-third year. Applications can be viewed and printed here and the class schedule below can be viewed and printed here.
